Ride Hard! Play Hard! Rest Hard!

At this point in my life, it often feels like every minute of every day is accounted for with tasks and obligations. Add into that the desire to be healthy and do some fitness and it can all feel like a never-ending hamster wheel.
Last weekend was the inaugural Cycle to Zero event, an offshoot from the AIDS LifeCycle. It was a 3 day event, but unlike the previous 7 day ride, participants could also elect to join for a single day ranging from 40 up to 108 miles. One of our new Badass Bike Bitches rode over 180 miles in just 3 days (go Sam!), the rest of the group elected for a single day of riding. Some people rode 42 miles, some did the 68 miler. There was something for everyone.
What stood out to me about the weekend though, was the afternoon when returned to our luxurious "baller" rental house (complete with pool and hot tub). After riding hard, we got to play and rest. We took naps, splashed in the pool, played ping pong, ate delicious food. I took a luxurious rest on an outdoor sofa in the shade. We did whatever we wanted to -- and it was AMAZING.
So much of being a woman over 40 does not feel restful -- careers, family, aging parents, the state of the world. Carving out an oasis of cycling, play, and rest in the midst of it all? Divine.
Our mission is to create more opportunities for women to ride hard, play hard, and REST hard. Keep an eye out as we announce upcoming experiences -- and join us for a weekend of riding, reveling, and resting.
Such a good Venn diagram!
