Ride Hard! Play Hard! Rest Hard!
At this point in my life, it often feels like every minute of every day is accounted for with tasks and obligations. Add into that the desire to be healthy and do some fitness and it can all feel like a never-ending hamster wheel. Last weekend was the inaugural Cycle to Zero event, an offshoot from the AIDS LifeCycle. It was a 3 day event, but unlike the previous 7 day ride, participants could also elect to join for a single day ranging from 40 up to 108 miles. One of our

Summer Cycling
Welcome to our summer lineup, including the fall events we'll be building for! Read through and get things on your calendar NOW, especially signing up for fall events, because the ones we picked are popular. Note: The big events will sell out, so if you're remotely interested, commit and sign up NOW. Ride For Change
Last June, the AIDS LifeCycle ride concluded its 31 year run. When the event started 31 years before, it had 400 riders and raised about $1 million. In June 2025, the event was capped at 3,000 riders and raised $17.5 million for the two main charities it benefited, the SF AIDS Foundation and the Los Angeles LGBT Center. The AIDS LifeCycle ride impacted countless humans- from those benefiting from the funds raised to those doing the ride itself. This group owes its creation

Going Down! Conquering the Other Side of the Hill.
Last week Victoria introduced us to the age-old cyclist question: Are you team uphill… or team downhill? As much as Victoria has tried to convince and inspire me to the contrary, I just really don’t love climbing. It’s hard. And I honestly don’t find joy hauling myself up a long hill, counting pedal strokes, wondering if the next turn will reveal the top of the tree line. But what keeps me going is that universal truth: what goes up must come down. And let me tell you—I

Going Up! Conquering Hills
Are you an uphill or a downhill person? We (the co-founders of BABBs) are very much one of each, thank you very much. Whatever category you fall into though, hills are a part of cycling, so you're going to need to figure out how to navigate the other dreaded category as well. Today we're going to talk about uphills. I love me some uphill, and while there are things you can do to make the physical part of riding uphill better (USE YOUR GEARS!), I think it might be even more im

We Can Do Hard Things
Last week, the sports world watched the absolutely incredible performance of Rachel Entrekin at Cocodona 250. She destroyed the womens' AND mens' records, winning the event outright. While it would be easy to distance our "regular people" achievements from hers ("she's a professional athlete", etc) what she said in a post-race interview probably applies to more of us than not. Watch it here-- she talks about struggling with imposter syndrome as she was leading the race, but t
