Come Meet Our BABBs Girl Gang It's Time to Meet Kellianne!

In our Meet Our BABBs series we get to share the awesome women who make up this beautiful, diverse, badass cycling community. This week, we are so excited for all of you to meet the one and only, Kellianne!
I first met Kellianne several years ago through Rubie. The two of them are neighbors, and one day Kellianne traipsed into Rubie’s house wearing, I am sure, a fabulous outfit—somewhere between supermodel chic and Iris Apfel fabulous—and carrying her sweet little pup, Sillybelle.
One look at this bitch and I was like, "Oh hell yes...I want to know this chick!" Although, like Rubie, I was also pretty sure she was way, way too cool for me.
Kellianne had done the AIDS/LifeCycle before, but not during the years the PuMadres rode in 2022 and 2023. Luckily, when the final AIDS/LifeCycle was announced for 2025, our paths gloriously crossed! Kellianne jumped into the PuMadre's girl gang, and I now wonder how we ever existed without her in our orbit.
Kellianne and I discovered something important about ourselves during a century ride while we were training for ALC. She stumbled across me, completely bonked out on the side of the road, peeing behind a tree, just as the landowner pulled up and asked “everything was okay out here?” "Fine sir."
It was around this bonk-fest that we established an important distinction: we are elk. Most of the other PuMadres are light prancing, light eating, sweet on their feet deer. Elk are sturdy. Elk are steady. Elk like to eat. Elk need carbs.
Kellianne and I are elk!
And that is just one of the reasons I love riding with her. She is strong as hell. She can climb. She can bomb a downhill. But she isn’t in some crazy rush. She gets there when she gets there—and if you are lucky enough to ride alongside her, you’re going to have a really good time getting there.
Kellianne is also much more than a rider. She is a fabulous musician—her 50th birthday party featured her singing and remains one of the best ways I have spent an evening in a long, long time.
She is also a former fashion model. At least in my mind she is, and I refuse to fact-check this.
She can mix and match a cycling kit like nobody’s business, right down to the perfect shade of lipstick to accent her jersey and one of her signature cycling caps.
More recently, Kellianne has been spending more time on gravel than logging hours on the open road. And once again, she’s inspiring me to keep riding in new and different ways—to get into the dirt, tackle more hills, and be willing to be a beginner at something again.
So maybe there are some BABBS gravel rides in our future? If so, I’m following the elk!
Meet Kellianne
What do you do when you’re not on a bike?
I parent two children, run two businesses, try to get to Orangetheory, snuggle my tiny dog Sillybelle, and play in two bands. Apparently I like things in twos. Except bikes. I have more than a few of those.
What’s something your fellow BABBS might not know about you?
I have a temper. Riding helps me keep it in check. There’s annoyance, resentment—all of that. Unless I’m hangry. Then all bets are off.
Why do you ride?
I like being alone on a team. I don’t get a lot of opportunities to be alone, and on the bike, even when I’m with everybody, ultimately it’s up to my own power to get there. I like those moments when everyone is in a groove and I can be alone inside it. Even if it’s after five.
What’s your cycling—or Badass Bitch—superpower?
I can go all day, even if I’m slow. I’ll get there. And I am constantly overcome by how beautiful things are. Even somewhere gritty like Richmond, I’ll see something and think, Look at that. There’s beauty in the grit.
Since you started riding with the PuMadres, what has changed?
I found this really tight-knit group—this secret treasure trove of lady friends. I feel like I could call any one of them and say, Help. Going through hard things on the road together knits people together. I joined because I needed more biking, and now there are endless opportunities to ride with cool people. There’s always someone to text.
Why should women like you join BABBS?
Aside from the pastries? I’ve been really impressed by how approachable and doable the rides and training are. It escalates, but it never feels like too much. You’ve never made me cry. There’s still time. Really, people should join because you’re fun. All of you. All of us. It’s fun.
Rapid Fire
Favorite cycling treat? A pastry.
Favorite post-ride ritual? Cleaning my bike after a ride. Ryan usually gets in there when I don’t do it well enough and cleans it better.
Favorite cycling swag? My wool Red Dot Cycling caps are kind of my signature. Also my BABBS gloves and my Ube gravel bike. She gives me that Lady Juice.
Best dumb bike trick from childhood? Flipping my bike upside down and pretending it was a Victorian ice cream-making machine. I could still do that today.
How young will you be on your next birthday? 51.
PS - Its KA's b-day real soon!
Let's get her out on a ride so we can banana slap her!
