Badass Bike Bitches
More than a cycling club.
We are a fierce, joy-forward cycling sisterhood for women 40+ built on shared miles, connection, and adventure.
Our story
​BABBS was born from a simple belief: life is better—and a whole lot more fun—when women ride together.
​
Our story began with the PuMadres, an AIDS/LifeCycle team founded by Rubie Campbell and Carolyn Gramstorff in 2022. What started as two women training for a single ride quickly grew into a close-knit team of ten who spent the next several years riding, climbing, laughing, supporting one another, and ultimately completing our final AIDS/LifeCycle together in 2025.

When that chapter ended, we realized something important: while the event was over, the community we had built was too special to leave behind.
​
Over the next six months, co-founders Carolyn Gramstorff and Victoria sat down with teammates to understand what had made the PuMadres so transformative. Again and again, the same themes emerged—belonging, encouragement, adventure, accountability, joy, and the confidence that comes from being surrounded by women who believe in you, cheer for you, and always wait at the top.

Those conversations became the blueprint for Badass Bike Bitches (BABBS).
We launched BABBS in February 2026 with a simple mission: to help more women 40+ discover the freedom, confidence, connection, and pure joy that comes from getting (back) on a bike and riding together.

Today, BABBS offers three signature experiences:

Our Beginner Program, with Begin Again and Builder tracks for women starting—or restarting—their cycling journey.

Sunday Team Training for riders preparing for longer rides and bigger cycling goals.

BABBS Adventures, our cycling getaways that combine incredible riding with friendship, exploration, and just the right amount of fun.

BABBS is especially unique in that it wasn't built by just two founders—it was built by a community. Many of the original PuMadres who helped shape the vision became founding owners of BABBS alongside Carolyn and Victoria, who serve as co-founders and co-CEOs. That shared ownership reflects what we've believed from the very beginning: the best communities aren't built for people—they're built with them.

Girl Gang
Every organization has a history, and that history is really the story of the people who created it—and the people who keep showing up and making it what it is.
Badass Bike Bitches is no different.

In our Come Meet the Girl Gang series, we’ll introduce you to Badass Bike Bitches from across our growing community—from the OG PuMadres, the AIDS/LifeCycle team that helped inspire #badassbikebitches, to the newest women to hop on and ride with us.

We’ll share a little Badass Bike Bitches lore, learn the stories behind the women in the jerseys, get a taste of their humor and personalities, and celebrate all the different ways women find their way to bikes—and to one another.

It’s important to note that this series isn’t just about remembering where we came from. It’s also about continuously creating community and connection, no matter when you hopped on to ride with us. It’s about seeing pieces of ourselves in other women at this stage of life—their courage, their messiness, their joy, their badassery—and maybe discovering a little more of our own power along the way.
